Gordon Henderson Blackwood

BLACKWOOD, Gordon Henderson of Paraparaumu, aged 95 years, passed away suddenly on Wednesday 20 May 2026 at Wellington Hospital.

Loved husband of the recently deceased Dorothy Hutchinson and the late Alison Blackwood. Loving father and father in law of Todd and Pamela Blackwood (Blenheim), Vivienne and Gary Burton (Christchurch), Kaye Blackwood (deceased) John and Adele Blackwood (Tauranga). Grandfather of Maisie Blackwood-Peter and Thomas Peter (Blenheim), Ava Blackwood(Uk) and Hugo Blackwood (Perth) and great grandfather of Adeline Blackwood-Peter (Blenheim).

The family wishes to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Retirement Village and the staff at Wellington Hospital.

Gordon will be deeply missed, he has left a very big hole in our lives. Anyone who knew him would agree that he was a gentleman, and a genuinely good man, a man we were all proud to call Dad, Granddad and Great granddad. He always had time for everyone, a story or two and a good old chuckle.

Gordon and Dorothy’s families would love to see any friends and family in the Bugatti room at Southward Car Museum on Friday 29 May at 11am -2pm for a celebration of Gordon’s life and his love of cars.
