Julia McMahon-O'Higgins

McMAHON-O’HIGGINS, Julia. – Passed away May 24, 2025 in her 91^st year, after a fall and a long, hard fought battle with dementia.  Loved daughter of the late Dan & Gertrude McMahon, sister and friend of the late Tom McMahon, loved wife and soulmate of Maurice O’Higgins (dec), loved Aunt of Lesley, Kathleen, Gillian and Dan.  Julia was proud to be born in the Chatham Islands and spoke of an idyllic childhood.  She was a survivor of the sinking of the Holmwood by Germans during WWII.  Julia was respected by many for her work at the Law Library, University of Auckland, and in later life was admitted to the bar.  A life well lived.  Many thanks to Hutt Hospital Orthopaedic Ward staff who showed her so much respect and dignity during her last week.  It was valued.
