NIELD (née LEES), Marie. Formerly of Oldham (UK), Blenheim, Opotiki, Gisborne, Auckland, Te Wharua in Carterton District and Lower Hutt. On 23 July 2025, peacefully at Shona McFarlane Retirement Village, Avalon, Lower Hutt. Aged 83 years. Wife of Stanley, mother and mother-in-law of Ian and Joanne, Kathryn and Kevin, Peter and Jessica, Anna and Tim. Beloved grandmother to 13 grandchildren. Daughter of James and Marie Lees. Sister of Frank and Pamela Lees. Cousin of Celia and Ray Taylor, Jean Hammerton (née Taylor), Sorel Taylor Fitz-Gibbon, Keir Taylor Fitz-Gibbon, Margaret White (née Taylor). Special thanks to the staff at Shona McFarlane Retirement Village’s Hospital Care unit. Funeral service will be celebrated at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3 Hania Street, Wellington, on 26 July at 12:15pm, followed by interment at Clareville Cemetery.
