Caroline Mary Kathleen UPWARD-DEGERHOLM

Caroline died peacefully following a short illness, surrounded by family at Dunstan Hospital, Clyde.

A graceful woman of great faith. Eldest daughter of John and Peggy Upward; adored wife of Peter Degerholm; dearly loved mother and mother in law of Anna and Chris, James and Bronagh; Mathew and Renée; and Sarah and Shaun; beloved Granny to Eva, Mackenzie, Patrick, Alexander, Connor, Charlie, Darragh, Sophia, Ethan, Brooklyn, Eoin and Adrian; cherished aunty and niece and special friend to many whose life she touched.

Caroline’s Requiem Mass will be held in St Josephs Catholic Church, Pine Avenue, Upper Hutt  on Tuesday 17 March 2026 at 11.00am, followed by interment at Akatarawa Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at Villa Joseph Chapel, 17 Gibbons Street Upper Hutt, Monday 16 March at 7.00pm, and a Memorial Service in Wanaka at a later date.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Dunstan Hospital for their respectful and attentive care of Caroline in her final days.
