Babu Masalawalla

Babu Masalawalla – Age 83, passed away in Lower Hutt, NZ on July 25, 2025.

He was the devoted husband of Kamla Masalawalla, nee Morar, of Johnsonville, Wellington.

Babu was born in India to the late Dhanjibhai and Dhanuben Masalawalla. Established the family business Ghanshyam Cyclewalla before moving to New Zealand in 1965.

Babu is survived by his wife Kamla Masalawalla; his children & their partners, Veena & Mayur, Rakesh & Llisa, Priya & Chris. Devoted Pappa to Amir, Deanna & Harmony, Maya & Bailey. Loved brother and brother-in-law to Chandrakant and the late Vasanti, Dinesh & the late Meena, Sushila & Niranjanlal and Manjula & the late Bharatkumar. Cherished Mota-Pappa to Nisha, Shay & Shriya, Kajal & Wayne, Naimah-Raine & Qiu, Shyam & Tash. Respected Mama to Sapna, Roopal and families.

Loved brother of the late Ramanbhai and late Savitabhabi, the late Chimanbhai and late Sarojbhabi and the late Hasuben and late Rameshlal.

Loved by all of his extended family in India, America and UK.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Te Omanga Hospice or the Wellington Free Ambulance would be greatly appreciated and can be left at the service.

The celebration of Babu’s life will be held at 10am Tuesday 29th July 2025 at Gee & Hickton Lower Hutt Cornwall Manor, corner Knights Rd & Cornwall St, Lower Hutt. Viewing from 10am and service starting at 10.30am.

Respects can be paid at the family home on Saturday 2nd August 2-4pm.
